Picasso Dental Clinic team - named clinicians treating UK patients

The most important thing a UK patient considering overseas dental work can do is find out who, by name, will be holding the drill. Country pages do not place implants. Coordinators do not bond veneers. Named clinicians do.

This page lists Picasso Dental Clinic’s senior team, what each clinician is responsible for, and how to confirm who has been assigned to your case before you book a flight.

Why naming matters

When a UK patient receives a quote that names the treating clinician, three things become possible.

First, the patient can verify the dentist’s training, experience, and case volume. Second, if something goes wrong after treatment, there is a specific person whose clinical decisions are on record. Third, the named dentist takes professional responsibility for the plan rather than acting on a coordinator’s quote.

When a quote does not name the clinician, none of those things hold. The General Dental Council advises UK patients to apply the same due diligence overseas as they would to a UK practice. That starts with a name.

Leadership

Dr. Emily Nguyen - Founding Clinical Director

Dr. Emily Nguyen founded the original clinic in Hanoi in 2013 under the name Serenity International Dental Clinic. After private equity partnership in 2023, the clinic rebranded as Picasso Dental Clinic. Dr. Emily Nguyen remained in clinical leadership and continues to set group-wide standards for case selection, surgical protocols, and prosthetic delivery.

Before founding the clinic, she trained extensively at Pearl Dental Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City. She does not personally treat every UK case, but every protocol applied to a UK patient is one she approves at the group level.

Dr. Tran Thanh Phong - Head of Implantology

Dr. Tran Thanh Phong leads all implantology and full-arch work at Picasso. He has been placing implants since 2001 - 25 years and counting - with a personal case volume of more than 15,000 implants placed. He places approximately 600 implants per year.

In 2010 he became the first Vietnamese dentist to perform All-on-4 immediate loading. Since then he has completed more than 1,000 All-on-4 cases. He has been performing zygomatic implants since 2017, with more than 400 zygoma placements on record. He trained at Loma Linda University in California in 2010 and has been Nobel Biocare’s clinical representative in Vietnam since 2007.

Most UK implant and full-arch enquiries are scheduled under his care.

Clinical team

Branch assignments for individual clinicians are not published. The clinic schedules complex implant and full-arch cases around Dr. Phong’s surgical days. Cosmetic and orthodontic cases are routed by branch availability.

Languages and patient communication

All branches operate in English and Vietnamese. Pre-arrival quotes, consultation summaries, treatment plans, warranty documents, and aftercare instructions are issued in English. French and Russian are not supported at any branch.

UK patient coordinators handle the booking and logistics. The treating clinician handles the clinical conversation. For full-arch, smile makeover, and reconstruction cases, the treating clinician will speak to the patient by WhatsApp or video before travel.

What this page is not

It is not a marketing roster. The clinicians listed above are the team treating UK patients across the Picasso branches. Where a specific claim about case volume, training, or first-in-country status is made, it has been confirmed by the clinic.

What is not listed is also deliberate. Picasso does not publish dental school graduation years it cannot verify, does not assign individual doctors to specific branches publicly, and does not attribute treatments to specific clinicians outside the specialties shown above. The clinic prefers to under-state and confirm in writing rather than over-promise on a website.

How clinicians are assigned to your case

When you send photos and an OPG to /free-quote/, the coordinator team triages the case by treatment complexity.

The written plan you receive before booking will name the lead clinician and any second clinician. If you would like the case reassigned, this is discussed before travel rather than on arrival.

Verification

To verify a clinician’s credentials independently:

• Vietnam Ministry of Health registration - Picasso Dental Clinic is licensed by the Ministry of Health Vietnam. Individual clinician registration can be requested through the patient coordinator.
• Loma Linda University implant training (Dr. Phong) - Records of his 2010 implantology programme.
• Nobel Biocare clinical representation (Dr. Phong) - Confirmed by Nobel Biocare’s Vietnam business unit.

UK patients are encouraged to ask for these verifications in writing before paying any deposit. The clinic considers this a normal part of due diligence rather than an unusual request.
