What is included in a dental implant combo package?

What does an implant combo price include at Picasso Dental Clinic? Exact components, what is excluded, and how to compare quotes across clinics.

Picasso Dental Clinic's implant combo price includes four components: the titanium implant fixture, the healing abutment, the final abutment, and the final ceramic crown. What is not included in the combo price is the CBCT scan, initial consultation, any bone grafting, sinus augmentation, tooth extraction, and post-op medication. Picasso itemises everything so you only pay for what your case requires.

The word “combo” appears throughout dental tourism marketing and means different things at different clinics. Some clinics define combo as fixture plus abutment. Others include the crown. A few quote fixture-only prices and add everything as a separate line. This article explains exactly what Picasso Dental Clinic includes in its combo price, what is billed separately, and how to use this information when comparing quotes.

What is included in the Picasso implant combo

Every implant combo at Picasso includes four components, regardless of brand:

1. Implant fixture

The titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. This is the implant itself. It is the component that osseointegrates (fuses with living bone) over 4 to 6 months after placement.

2. Healing abutment

A temporary component placed on top of the fixture at the time of surgery. It sits at gum level and shapes the gum tissue around the emerging implant neck during the healing period. It is included in the combo as part of the surgical kit.

3. Final abutment

The connector between the implant fixture and the crown. Standard titanium abutments are included in the combo price. A custom-milled abutment is a separate cost if the standard abutment geometry does not suit your specific implant angle or position.

4. Final ceramic crown

The visible tooth. At Picasso this is typically an Emax or zirconia ceramic crown. The crown specification (material, shade) is confirmed at your pre-crown appointment during Trip 2.

What is NOT included in the combo

The following items are billed separately, and only when required:

CBCT scan: GBP 17

A cone beam CT scan taken on arrival. Essential for implant planning. This 3D image shows bone volume, sinus proximity, nerve position, and the precise angle for fixture placement. Every implant case requires a CBCT.

Initial consultation: GBP 6

The clinical examination appointment on Day 1 of your trip. This is a nominal fee.

OPG panoramic X-ray: GBP 9

Taken if you do not already have a current one from your UK dentist. Often taken alongside the CBCT.

Bone graft: GBP 116 to GBP 435

Only if the CBCT shows insufficient bone volume. The cost varies by volume and technique. Small localised grafts use socket preservation material at the lower end. Larger block grafts or guided bone regeneration procedures are at the higher end.

Sinus augmentation: GBP 203 to GBP 406

Only for upper jaw implants where bone height below the sinus floor is insufficient. The crestal approach (through the implant site) is at the lower end. The lateral window approach is at the higher end.

Tooth extraction: GBP 29 to GBP 58

If the tooth to be replaced is still present when you arrive, simple extraction is GBP 29. Surgical extraction (a tooth with curved or retained roots) is GBP 58.

Temporary PMMA crown during healing: GBP 29

Optional. For patients who want a tooth in the implant position during the 4 to 6 month osseointegration period. This is a temporary acrylic crown, not the final ceramic.

Custom abutment: GBP 145 to GBP 261 additional

If the standard titanium abutment geometry does not suit your implant angulation or the crown emergence profile needed, a custom-milled abutment can be used. This is not common for straightforward cases.

Post-operative medication

Antibiotics and pain relief prescribed after surgery. Available at Vietnamese pharmacies for a few pounds. Not billed through the clinic.

Why Picasso itemises instead of “all-inclusive” pricing

Some clinics offer a single all-inclusive implant price that bundles bone grafting, sinus work, extractions, and temporaries into one figure. This protects against surprise additions but overcharges patients who do not need those procedures.

If you have good bone volume, healthy sinuses, and no tooth to extract, you should not pay for a bone graft. Picasso’s approach is to price only what your specific case requires, based on clinical evidence from the CBCT scan.

This means Picasso’s upfront combo price looks lower than an all-inclusive competitor’s headline price. When comparing quotes across clinics, check whether the competitor’s all-inclusive price actually includes the final crown and both abutments. Many do not.

Questions to ask any clinic when comparing implant quotes

  1. Does this price include the final crown?
  2. Does it include the abutment (or are there two separate abutment charges)?
  3. Is the CBCT scan included or separate?
  4. Is bone grafting included or separate? If separate, what does it cost per unit of graft material?
  5. Which implant brand and model is this price for?
  6. What is the warranty on the fixture and on the crown?

A clinic that cannot answer all six questions in writing is not giving you a quote. It is giving you an opening number.
